Dark Mistery VM Famy – Review
INTRODUCTION
For today’s review I will deal with a new entry for our blog, in fact I will tell you about a product by VM Famy brand born in December 2019 thanks to Vincenzo Iorio Esposito’s intuition and his long experience in the vaping sector. The VM Famy company comes to life by focusing immediately on the quality and certification of the raw materials used to make its products, and aims to create refined recipes very different from the classic standards of the market. The basic idea is to offer new e-liquid suitable for an all-day and never tiring vape.
After launching Mistery and CookiNuti in February 2020, at the beginning of this year VM Famy presented Dark Mistery, the tobacco version of the aroma Mistery. So today I am going to review for you the Dark Mystery aroma, a 20 ml aroma shot proposed in a 60 ml bottle; as usual, a 40 ml neutral base must be added to the aroma to obtain the liquid ready to vape. Dark Mystery, according to the manufacturer’s indications, can be vaped both in MTL and in flavor/cloud chasing.
DARK MISTERY – DESCRIPTION
Before talking about the Dark Mistery description, I want to remember what is the official description of the Mystery aroma, from which Dark Mistery takes its cue.
Here’s how the manufacturer describes its Mystery: Waffle meets vanilla ice cream and white chocolate with a salty touch of graham cracker … A true mystery with every puff.
And here’s the Dark Mystery official description:
The smoking of Latakia and the intense flavor of Kentucky, for a mix of microfiltered organic tobacco made unique by the memory of the Mystery … From the pleasure of tobacco to the whim of creamy.
SMELL TEST
Unfortunately, the smell examination of Dark Mystery seems to leave no escape from the tobacco project of this aroma, because when you open the bottle you are immediately overwhelmed by an intense and very sweet vanilla fragrance. The vanilla scents, sometimes intrusive and in any case very penetrating, seem to be accompanied by a creamy milk-based background that blends well with persistent vanilla notes. The smell test fails to reveal the other components of this complex bouquet and, waffles and graham crackers on one side, and Latakia and Kentucky tobacco on the other, are missing during my nasal test.
So I immediately prepare for the vape test, to understand if Dark Mystery in vaporization will be able to show the different shades indicated in the official description.
VAPE TEST
Devices: Exvape Expromizer V3 Fire single coil 1.10 ohm (Kanthal A1 28 AWG) + Penodat V2 RTA single coil 1.00 ohm (Kanthal A1 28 AWG) with Cotton Bacon Prime
For the tasting of this new VM Famy creation, I relied on two rebuildable atomizers with different characteristics, the always reliable and stainless Expromizer V3 Fire and the new Turkish Penodat V2 atomizer with its narrow and long bell.
Even on vape Dark Mystery does not stray far from the deeply creamy character that emerged during the smell test, although on inhalation a shy hint of tobacco is perceptible on the palate, especially in my case with the Expromizer atomizer, more suitable to emphasize the fuller tones and dried tobaccos in the mix. It is Latakia tobacco with its unmistakable smoky note that reveals itself above all in the opening bars of the puff, managing to transfer a short but appreciable dry and quite woody note on the palate.
In the heart of the puff, the creamy elements of Dark Mistery take center stage, and boldly show off all the vanilla creaminess of the Dark Mistery aromatic bouquet. The e-liquid in this phase changes register with respect to the initial perceptions and is more enveloping and soft than ever. The starting tobacco cues now seem only a distant and faint memory…
The vape goes on pleasantly on sinuous and at times velvety aromatic tracks, a tasty and familiar journey in vaping, a path that however does not really seem to leave any room for the perception of any tobacco taste. Lovers of creamy e-juices will find this moment of the vape absolutely lovable and will especially appreciate its never oversized sweetness; from another perspective, the vapers more inclined to tobacco sensory experiences will find it difficult to grasp the essence of a real and deep tobacco vape with Latakia and Kentucky.
In the final stages of the puff Dark Mystery seems to want to show a synthesis of its complex structure, and the aromatic tones appear more balanced; so while the creamy trail flows until the final exhalation, my taste buds trace again those smoky nuances perceived only in the top notes, this time however enriched and embellished with light salty notes, which recall with good fidelity the taste of a classic graham cracker. The aromatic persistence after vaping is good but never intrusive.
DARK MISTERY FINAL VERDICT
Dark Mistery, the new aroma of VM Famy, while officially classifying itself within the tobacco flavored category, is actually a much more creamy-oriented product than tobacco one, and its tobaccos play a marginal role within the bouquet. In my opinion, this is a very appreciable e-liquid especially by those who prefer to “feel” the sweet and creamy notes, while for real tobacco lovers (like myself) it could be interesting if the manufacturer in the future also proposes a “reserve edition” with a stronger presence of Latakia and Kentucky.
