Vandy Vape is almost certainly the most dynamic and enterprising vaping hardware manufacturer made in China in the last two years. Vandy Vape products are numerous and widespread among the vapers of the five continents. We speak first of all of atomizers (about twenty between RTA, RDA and RDTA), but also recently of mods.

Today we are going to analyse its latest creation, the Pulse BF 80W, which followed the Pulse unregulated, the first one in the Vandy Vape house.

DESIGN AND BUILD QUALITY

The Pulse BF 80W was designed for Vandy Vape by the famous youtuber Tony B who, after the excellent success recorded with the Pulse mechanic, wanted to repeat with a BF regulated mod with a single battery (18650 or 20700). From the aesthetic point of view the Pulse is a rather simple box and without too many frills aesthetic, however, in my opinion in its simplicity, it is very well designed. On a completely black body, we can find perfectly standed, thanks to the use of generous magnets, two multicolored panels (there are 8 colors available) in resin with very bright and captivating patterns. The mod, although it is completely made of plastic material, gives back to the tact an idea of good constructive solidity.

Well done are also the “fire” and “up” and “down” buttons, not too small but easy to reach and click with any type of handle. The display of about 1″ is simple and essential and reports the usual info on watts or degrees, resistance value, volts and battery level charge.

ERGONOMICS AND PORTABILITY

The feeeling, once the Pulse is hold steady with the hand, is immediately incredible! The rubberized effect of the two panels (other panels can be purchased separately) and its slightly rounded corners guarantee an excellent and very pleasant grip. The dimensions are certainly not contained, for sure on the market there are smaller BF single battery mod, especially if you look for small-scale “artisanal” productions of some of the most famous modders, but it must also be said that this mod can host even a 20700 battery and then its fairly generous size of 82x56x27 cm (to be clear the size of a VTinbox) does not compromise its portability, which is facilitated by a weight of only 87.5 g (with 20700 battery and an 24mm RDA atomizer the total weight is about 190 g).

FUNCTIONS & PERFORMANCES

The Pulse BF 80W was designed to host a Voopoo chipset but after some vicissitudes, the mod was equipped with a proprietary chipset. It is a simple, essential but also very intuitive and functional circuit. The 5 click canons allow you to switch the box on and off, the three buttons pressed simultaneously put the box in stealth mode; the “fire” key combination with the “+” key blocks the box, the “fire” combination and “-” key rotates the screen.

With 3 clicks you access to the modes available for the vaper: power mode, bypass, TC mode (stainless steel, nickel chrome, titanium). When you’re in TC mode, quickly pressing the “fire” button 4 times accesses to the watt setting.

But it’s not over here because, although simple and essential is the Vandy Vape chip, the manufacturer has also included a menu with additional functions. Keeping the “+” and “-” buttons pressed at the same time you access the customization menu, where you can set the vari volt mode and 5 different temperature curve presets that will be created generating the curve in 10 different intervals of 1 second each.

And the performances? If you exclude a few small issues, I have no doubt in asserting that they are really very good. Let’s start with the negative aspects. The first one (honestly even minor) is given by the slow response of the “fire” button when the box is left inactive for a few minutes. The second and perhaps the most important one, is related to the temperature control mode that works well enough, but compared to more accurate chips such as DNA, the Vandy chip is less precise on the set temperatures.

That said, however, the general behavior of the mod is definitely more than satisfactory. The Pulse is reactive, battery management is good (if you think the opposite, please update the firmware of your chip), the squonk mechanism is perfect thanks to a silicone bottle (because Vandy Vape has not inserted another one in the package?) studied in detail and absolute efficiency! To this we must also add the anti-leakage system of the 510 connector with o-ring seal in three different points!

Can you ask for more than a squonk mod circuit?

EASE OF USE

For the ease of access to its functions and its convenient and more than functional bottle, to use this mod will be a disarming simplicity even for less experienced vapers. The Pulse BF 80W in fact is a mod of an impressive ductility that, also considering the fairly low cost (it is in fact a product of medium-low range) will be really affordable for everyone.

TO CONCLUDE

Vandy Vape after the success of the unregulated Pulse, has also hit the center with its regulated version. Ready to meet the most disparate needs, except perhaps those of cloud chasers, this mod offers level performance, combined with a build quality above average and a touch of aesthetics that never hurts. This is really a valid mod squonk that I can advise without any fear to the vaper who want to buy their first squonk system, but also to the most experienced that they can have at home at an advantageous price, a product that does its job very well without ever disappointing.
